4 Important Ways Receiving God’s Kingdom’s Will Change You

On Sunday March 22, 2015 we celebrated our Friends & Family Day. Dr. Adeola Ilechukwu was our guest speaker and she shared a message that was a real blessing to me and others in attendance. The thrust of her message was simply this: at the heart of the prayer “Thy Kingdom Come” is a request or change in our lives. The Kingdom of God cannot come into your life without triggering a process that brings about radical transformation in your life.

She went on to share four area of our lives we can expect change in our lives if we have received God’s kingdom:

1. Change in your mindset: the way you view life, and the world will change radically when you receive the kingdom. Receiving Jesus does not turn bad people into good people; it makes dead people alive! That means a completely new life; a completely new way of looking at the world.

2. Change in your values: your values determine what you treasure. What you value you will be willing to give up things for. Have you seen yourself putting more value on things like relationships, your fellowship and time with God? Are you presenting yourself to God as a sacrifice – holy and acceptable?

3. Change in your beliefs: what are the things you believe as true? Or more importantly what is the source of your beliefs. Do you hold as true only things that make sense to you or do you give up your views for what God says is true. Are you in the kingdom – then let the word of God become the source of your belief.

4. Change in your confession: your confession flows from your beliefs. Your words create your experience. Check the kind of language you use. If you want to know what’s in your heart, listen to what you say. If you want to change wants in your heart, then change what you say. What you believe you will speak and what you are speaking is what you believe.

Friend, when you take a look at yourself since you received the kingdom, do you see yourself changing in these areas? If you are not, then ask yourself if you are making yourself available to the Lord to work on you. When you make yourself available, He will make you able. He will pick you up and begin to work on us.

How do we make ourselves available? Quit presenting your inadequacies as the reasons for not being available. Give time to God’s word, to personal and corporate prayer and to the other members of the body of Christ. Be active in a church family. The change a Christian experiences is supplied change – it comes from the Spirit within you as you make you body and soul available to Him. This is why in order to enjoy God’s kingdom, we must make up our minds to spend time in with the King.
