A Person Sent By God

“There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.”  Joh 1:6 (NKJV)

To be successful is to be a person who accomplishes what God has sent you to do. It means living like someone who is sent by God. What God has called us to do as His children in Grace Life Center is very simple: to become fully devoted followers of Jesus who, in partnership with Jesus, are bringing revival (i.e. divine solutions to human problems) to their generation. What an awesome privilege we have. To be fully devoted simply means that Jesus is all we live for. Our lives are a sacrifice to Jesus. While this is a simple goal, it is not easy. But it is achievable. Here are three actions we can commit to that would increase our chances of being successful in this assignment to be fully devoted followers of Jesus who are bringing God’s solutions to human problems:
1. Constantly Pray For One Another: Someone once said we have no right to talk to men about God until we have talked to God about men. We have no right to complain about any man until we have first complained to God about that man. We must come to God daily in prayer, for ourselves, for each other and for the people God has sent us to. The bible says prayer was made to God daily by the church (Acts 12:5). If the fire of prayer is not burning in our personal lives, it will not burn in the church we belong to. The fire of prayer in any church is the amalgamation of fires of prayer in the individual members of the church. Prayer is not only speaking to God about people, it is speaking for God into people’s lives. To be successful in our call therefore, we must become individuals who are constantly speaking to God about people’s lives and speaking for God into people’s lives! And as we do, we will see that our prayer does not change God but changes us because until God changes us – he cannot use us.

2. Practice Agape Love For One Another: Jesus says that the evidence that we are fully devoted followers of Him is not by how much we pray, although prayer is important. It is not by how much we prophesy, although we should pursue prophesy and other spiritual gifts. It is not by how financially well of we are, although our God shall supply all our needs according to His riches in Glory. No. The way we would show that we are fully devoted followers of Jesus is in how we love God, love one another and love God’s world. (John 13:35). This love is not a feeling. It is a set of deliberate actions we choose to take because of how we have first been loved by God. These actions include serving one another, preferring one another, being affectionate with one another and accepting one another without conditions. It means honoring others i.e. finding ways to praise others and be thankful for them, even when there appears to be no reason to do so.   Love is an act of the will and it takes practice because no one is born this way! We have to practice it until we become perfect it.  (1 John 3:18).

3. Commit To Building Up (Edifying) One Another: Our greatest challenge as followers of Jesus is learning to become who we already are in Jesus. As we pray for one another and we practice love for each other, we will put ourselves in a position where God can use us to build each other up and bring out who we are in Jesus. In Romans 14:19, Paul encourages us to pursue things that will be edify or build us up. In Romans 15:2, we are encouraged to please our neighbor for their good, so that they can be edified. This means that whenever we come together, we ought to present ourselves to each other to be built up, to bring out Christ in each of us. It means making your gifts, talents, and abilities available to be used by God to help someone become a better Christian

You cannot succeed in life until you begin to live like a man sent by God to bring revival (i.e. divine solutions to human problems) to your generation. The opposite of a person “sent by God” – is a hireling. A man who lives only for himself and for himself alone. His only mission is his own personal prosperity. The totality of his life agenda is his personal desires. Such a person lives only for himself and only shows up or participates when things are done for him or in his way. Such a person cannot be God’s instrument to bring revival. And that’s not the kind of person you are!  You a person sent by God! When a person is sent by God, she prays.  When she prays she loves. When a she loves – she is able to give her life to building up others and bringing God’s solutions to their human problems.
